This project is targeting the dissemination of village RPJM Rencana Pembangunan Jangka Menengah (local development plans) in 10 villages in Timor Tengah Selatan (TTS) in West Timor. The information is shared with village residents twice a week via SMS in collaboration with our partner SDM.

Generally, in Indonesia, there is a lack of access to these village plans and typically there is a lack of transparency in making these plans available to the public, as they are usually only printed in books and rarely distributed. The project seeks to maximize the use of mobile technology to mobilize citizen awareness and contribute in areas where they previously had no involvement.

The second stage during the project will maximize the use of social media and create village Facebook pages to provide additional content via the Internet. Residents are trained on maximizing the WAP features on their cell phones to see visual maps, diagrams and charts available in the RPJM which are otherwise unavailable via SMS. Springfields works together with their partners in providing additional training on maximizing the residents' mobile phones as a tool to seek extra information.

The current phases within the project are expected to run until December, 2012 and will plan to expand there after in 2013.
